Jimmy Kimmel hosts virtual 2020 Emmy Awards
The coronavirus couldn’t stop us from celebrating the television entertainment that has helped us cope with the pandemic over the past few months at the 2020 Primetime Emmys.
Last night the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards were led by late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel in a 95% virtual awards ceremony. Kimmel was still hosting from the Staples Center and was joined by a few fellow celebs throughout the ceremony as presenters or to perform some bits for us at home. All the other celebrities were safely at home or with small show parties to celebrate. In an effort to acknowledge the front line workers supporting the country, there were a few select essential workers that were chosen to inform the population of their work and also present some of the awards.
There was no sweeping the Schitt under the rug this year, celebrating its sixth and final season, Schitt’s Creek took home all of the awards in the comedy series categories.
Another celebratory moment was Zendaya becoming the youngest Emmy winner in history for her portrayal of Rue in HBO’s Euphoria.
All in all the 2020 virtual Primetime Emmy Awards went off without a hitch. As predicted there were some choppy delays in video connections but no technical difficulties across the board.
