A dozen new bakers enter the tent in ‘The Great British Baking Show’ season 11 trailer
The beloved British baking series is back with Matt Lucas as the a new host!.
On Tuesday, the first trailer for The Great British Baking Show‘s 11th season dropped with a fresh batch of bakers and one new addition to the team. Season 11 has comedian and actor Matt Lucas (Doctor Who, Bridesmaids) replacing Sandi Toksvig to join Noel Fielding in hosting duties.
Besides Sandi, a notable absence for this season is Paul Hollywood’s signature icy spiked hair, it seems as if he’s switched it up and gone with a pomade in these pandemic times we live in. Though that won’t stop his sharp palate and truthful critiques of the bakes this season, that is a guarantee.
Due to the ongoing global pandemic, the hosts, 12 new bakers, and judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith formed a bubble before production began to quarantine together to allow for closer interaction once on-set. Typically the production of a season takes months because the bakers go home during the week to practice and live their normal lives, then return on weekends to bake for the coveted cake plate. But in further COVID changes, shooting took place over just six weeks at a top-secret location in the U.K.
This first trailer seemed to focus on baker mishaps rather than triumphs, but never fear, there will be bakes that will make your pandemic sourdough skills look like a toddler learning how to walk.
For season 10 of the series, the show would air weekly in the U.K., then the following Friday the episode was available in the U.S. on Netflix. Season 11 will follow the same schedule and be released 3 days after it airs in the U.K.
