Zendaya teased they are working on a special episode of Euphoria in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night.
Ben Platt was the guest host on Wednesday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live and while talking to Zendaya she teased that there’s a possibility for the crew to film and release a “bridge episode” while they figure out how to safely return to shoot season 2. Watch the interview below.
Euphoria was renewed for a second season in July of last year while the first season was still airing. The first season earned Zendaya a well deserved Emmy nomination for her performance as Rue.
“We’re trying to figure out how to eventually be able to create a season 2 that we’re all really proud of and get all the best out of it that we want but also still being very safe,” Zendaya said. “So, we might end up doing a little bridge episode. I don’t really know how to describe it, but an episode that we can do with a limited amount of people in a safer environment that can, I don’t know, give people something.”
“We were headed into season 2 and we had done table reads and wardrobe fittings and all kinds of things and then obviously everything happened and we got shut down, literally like two days before we were about to start the first day of shooting,” Zendaya mentioned to Platt when talking about season 2 itself.
Since the first season aired its fan base has grown and become dedicated to the series. They have filled the Euphoria void by creating playlists consisting of the vast array of incredible music that underscores and emphasizes key moments in the series. Young audiences also praise the show for its inclusion of POC characters, non-binary, and transgender characters of the like.
In the short interview Zendaya also talked about the secret film she made during the pandemic with John David Washington, star of the upcoming film Tenet, and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. They completed the film in a “bubble” with many safety precautions for the small cast and crew.
Zendaya said, “It was fun because I was my hair, I was my makeup, I was my wardrobe. I brought my clothes to the set deck. So, it was fun in that way to try to make it work with a very small amount of people.”
You can watch the first season of Euphoria on HBO and stream it on HBO Max.
