A fitting announcement with Halloween coming up, the Addams Family might have another tv series in the works.
Tim Burton and MGM Television are in talks of creating a new iteration of the world’s spookiest family. While Burton is technically still in talks to direct and produce the show, it does have writers and creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar who’s more recent credits include creating Into the Badlands.
If the show is greenlit and Burton is attached, it would be one of the few television projects in his career. His previous TV work includes directing episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and serving as executive producer on the animated series of Beetlejuice.
Over the years the Addams Family has had many iterations after starting out as a comic strip. There have been many other television adaptations, the most notable being the ABC series which ran from 1964-1966, another live action series was made in the 1990’s called The New Addams Family. There have also been two animated series over the years.
The cookey family also had number of films over the decades as well. In 1993 Addams Family Values came out as a sequel and became one of the highest regarded cult classics in history. It starred Raul Julia as Gomez, Anjelica Huston as Morticia, Christopher Lloyd as Uncle Fester, Christina Ricci as Wednesday, and Jimmy Workman as Pugsley. The most recent film was animated and released in 2019 by MGM and featured a voice talent of Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron as Gomez and Morticia respectively, the sequel of which is expected to be released in 2021.
We are very excited to see what Tim Burton will be able to bring to the table for the iconic Addams Family.
