Andy Serkis is venturing back to Middle Earth for a new audiobook version of The Hobbit.

Serkis is no stranger to the vast universe created by J.R.R. Tolkien as he famously played the role of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and reprised the role in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. In addition he has lent his extraordinary voice acting skills to the companion video games for the series.

HarperCollins UK announced the release of the new audiobook with a short snippet of Serkis reading the opening of the book. The audiobook’s total run time will be about 7 hours and 40 minutes. The two minutes of this teaser sound incredible, so the rest of the book will be very entertaining.

Back in May, Serkis read The Hobbit for a charity fundraiser live stream where he read the book in its entirety over 11 hours. Giving the fans what he knew they would love, he even used his iconic Gollum voice while bouncing back and forth between the characters of Gollum and Bilbo Baggins when they first meet. Since then, fans have been clamoring for a repeat performance and their wishes have been granted.

The new version of the fantasy classic will be available in September, and you can pre-order it now.
