It looks like we will get some more Doctor Strange in the next Spider-Man film.

Benedict Cumberbatch will be donning his magic cape as Doctor Strange when he joins Tom Holland for the upcoming famed web-slinger film.

The first two films featured many faces from the rest of the MCU in mentor roles for Peter Parker as he learns what it means to both be a teenager as well as a hero.

In the first film, Spider-Man: Homecoming we saw Tony Stark mentoring Peter while he is being a typical teenager and wanting to move along much faster in his own responsibilities that he realizes he should. Most times learning a lesson along the way after he has made a mistake and Iron Man has to fix it.

In Spider-Man: Far From Home Peter had Nick Fury to help him with his grief in losing his original mentor, while also working through the fact that someone like him is exactly what the next generation of the Avengers needs. Although Fury’s gruff manner may have been a little harsh at times it ultimately got Peter on the right path.

For the third installment it looks like Spidey’s mentor will be Doctor Strange. His character seems like a great mix of both Stark and Fury when it comes to critical thinking and bluntness. Parker and Strange’s personalities couldn’t be more different which will likely play well into the humor that the Spider-Man films have portrayed thus far.

This news comes shortly after it was announced that Jamie Foxx has also signed on to co-star in the film. In shocking news, Foxx is set to reprise his role as Electro— the supervillain he first played in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 starring Andrew Garfield.

Currently, Spider-Man 3 is slated for theaters on December 17, 2021.
