The iconic reality competition, RuPaul’s Drag Race, is traveling north for a new batch of drag queens to compete for the title of Canada’s First Drag Superstar!
The Canadian iteration of the show already has two episodes under its belt but has only been available to stream on Crave in Canada as well as WOW Presents Plus. But fear not drag fans! On July 27, 8 PM PT/ET it will start airing on Logo.
RuPaul herself is not the head judge and host of the Canadian reality competition. It is being lead by Season 11 runner-up and Canadian drag queen, Brooke Lynn Hytes, actor Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and model Stacey McKenzie. In addition to being crowned Canada’s First Drag Superstar, twelve queens will also be competing for $100,000.
The twelve queens competing in the first season of Canada’s Drag Race are Anastarzia Anaquway (Toronto, ON), BOA (Toronto, ON), Ilona Verley (Vancouver, BC), Jimbo (Victoria, BC), Juice Boxx (Toronto, ON), Kiara (Montréal, QC), Kyne (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON), Lemon (From Toronto, living in New York City), Priyanka (Toronto, ON), Rita Baga (Montréal, QC), Scarlett Bobo (Toronto, ON) and Tynomi Banks (Toronto, ON).
This announcement pushes viewers along on what seems to be a never ending supply of fabulous drag content. We have been segueing from season to season. Just in the past year fans went from watching Season 11 to Drag Race UK, then to Season 12 which aired alongside Secret Celebrity Drag Race, then began All Stars 5 which will have its finale on July 24th. Now we will move on to Canada and who knows what will come next! Will we get a break?
After experiencing the difference in the drag we saw on the UK season, it is going to be very entertaining to see what kind of charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent these Canadian drag queens will bring to our screens.
Canada’s Drag Race will premiere on Logo July 27th.
