The first trailer for the movie musical of the hit Broadway show, Dear Evan Hansen, has arrived.
Ben Platt has returned to the role that launched him into mega stardom, but this time on the big screen instead of the stage. Dear Evan Hansen is ready to make its way to the theaters this September.
Back in 2017, Ben Platt took the stage as the curtain rose on the Broadway run of Dear Evan Hansen which earned him his first Tony Award for Lead Actor in a Musical that show season. On a whole it brought home 6 Tony’s total including Best Musical.

The trailer is set to one of the hit songs from the Broadway show “You Will Be Found” as viewers are introduced to the lead character, a high school student who grapples with his mental health. Evan has an interaction with a classmate Connor Murphy, shortly before Connor takes his own life. The interaction sets off a series of events and a complicated lie that spins out of control. Suddenly, Evan finds himself developing relationships with the Connor’s family, based on the lie that he was Connor’s one and only friend while he was still alive.
Joining Platt is Julianne Moore playing Evan’s mom, Heidi, and Kaitlyn Dever as Connor’s sister, Zoe, with Amy Adams as the Murphys’ mother.
Steven Levenson, who wrote the original book for the show, also adapted the screenplay, with original composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul serving as executive producers. Stephen Chbosky who directed Perks of Being a Wallflower also directed the movie musical.
Dear Evan Hansen will hit theaters Sept. 24.
