‘Goosebumps’ live-action TV series on the way from Scholastic and Sony


A Goosebumps live-action television series is in the works, so get ready to dive back into your favorite spooky stories from your childhood!

According to Deadline, who first reported the news, the Goosebumps TV series will be brought to the small screen through a partnership between Scholastic Entertainment, the media division of Scholastic, which is the company that publishes the series; Neal H. Moritz, who is the producer of the Goosebumps and Goosebumps 2 films; and Sony Pictures TV, where Moritz’s Original Film is under a deal.

Moritz to bring the enduring brand to life in a fresh new way for today’s generation,” said Iole Lucchese, Scholastic Entertainment President and Chief Strategy Officer. “From the world-famous book series to a full-scale licensing program and even live-action movies starring Jack Black, Goosebumps remains wildly popular and we look forward to presenting new adventures to give fans even more Goosebumps.”

Written by R.L. Stine, the Scholastic books series Goosebumps is currently one of the best-selling book series of all time, with more than 350 million English-language books in print, plus international editions in 32 languages.

The anthology series of books tells stories about children in creepy and spooky situations, often involving supernatural elements. Books in the series included a haunted house, a haunted mask, and a haunted camera

This won’t be the first time the series has made the leap from page to screen. The series was a hit live-action series in the 1990s and was rated #1 for five consecutive seasons.

The books also spawned two feature films starring Jack Black, released in 2015 and 2018, which together grossed more than $250 million.
