You read that right! Another Game of Thrones prequel is officially in the works.
Game of Thrones came to a close in 2019 but HBO isn’t even close to saying goodbye to Westeros and the cash cow it has produced. This time with Dunk & Egg.
HBO announced that is is currently in the process of adapting George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk & Egg into into a television series.
It is described as a series of novellas and was published back in 2005. It takes place about a hundred years before the events of Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, which was the source material for the original HBO series whose pilot aired in 2011.
Dunk & Egg follows the adventures of the titular characters who later grow to become Ser Duncan the Tall, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, and future King Aegon V Targaryen, the father of the famous Aerys Targaryen, who is better known as the Mad King. Continuing on that also makes him the grandfather of Rhaegar, Viserys, and everyone’s favorite queen of dragons, Daenerys.
Of course Dunk & Egg it isn’t the only project inspired by Martin’s fictitious world currently in the works as a future series at HBO.
There have been whispers of many different stories of the Seven Kingdoms in the works over the past 2 years but the only one that has gained traction in plans for production is the House of Dragons series.
Currently there is no word as to when we can expect Dunk & Egg to grace our television screens.
