Netflix announces ‘Selena: The Series’ to premier in December


Selena fans Bidi Bidi Bom Bom to the news that Netflix has a premiere date for her life story.

The music icon Selena Quintanilla’s story is coming to life at Netflix and now fans finally know when they can expect to see it. Netflix has announced that part one of the two-part series is set to start streaming on the platform December 4, 2020.

Netflix announced the premiere in tandem with a teaser video that gives viewers a glimpse of actress Christian Serratos as the titular Mexican-American singer as well as some of her most iconic outfits.

The trailer also features dialogue between Serratos’ Selena and co-star Gabriel Chavarria, who plays Selena’s father, Abraham in the series. In addition to Serratos and Chavarria, the series also stars Ricardo Chavira, Noemi Gonzalez, Seidy Lopez, Julio Macias, Jesse Posey, Hunter Reese Pena, and Carlos Alfredo Jr.

The show is written and executive produced by American Crime‘s Moises Zamora, and has also been created with the blessing of Selena’s family. The bio-series has been building anticipation since it was announced by the streamer back in 2018. It will focus on the the young singer’s rise to fame, from performing at small venues in Corpus Christi, to becoming one of the most iconic Latinx artists of all time.
