With all the success of their original deal, it’s not surprising to learn that Neflix has extended its deal with Sandler and Happy Madison Productions!
According to the streaming service, Murder Mystery has become Adam Sandler’s most popular Netflix film to date. It was also the the most popular title on Netflix overall in the U.S. last year. As well as the number one most popular title in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Singapore and UAE.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos commented on the news saying, “Whether you know him as Sandman, the Water Boy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Nick Spitz or simply Adam, one thing is clear: our members can’t get enough of him. They love his stories and his humor, as we saw with Murder Mystery. So I could not be more excited to extend our partnership with Adam and the Happy Madison team and deliver more laughs around the world.”
Since 2015 Netflix members have spent more than two billion hours watching Adam Sandler, the same year that The Ridiculous 6 was released. 83 million households alone watched Murder Mystery in its first four weeks on Netflix.
Later this year Netflix will release Hubie Halloween which stars Sandler alongside Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Ray Liotta, Maya Rudolph, Rob Schneider, Kenan Thompson, Steve Buscemi, Michael Chiklis, Tim Meadows, Noah Schnapp, Paris Berelc, China Anne McClain and Shaquille O’Neal.
This will make Hubie Halloween the sixth film that Sandler has released with the streaming service. Previously, Netflix and Happy Madison Productions has released The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over, Sandy Wexler, The Week Of, and of course Murder Mystery.
Sandler also released his first stand-up special in 22 years on Netflix in 2018, 100% Fresh. The comedian turned actor/producer continues to dominate box offices and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
