Netflix renews ‘Sex Education’ for a third season

Sex Education will be back in session for at least one more time! Netflix has announced that the British comedy will get a third season.

Netflix may be infamous for cancelling its shows prematurely, but it looks like Sex Education fans can breathe easy for at least another season.

Netflix announced yesterday on Twitter that it will be renewing the critically acclaimed British high school dramedy Sex Education for a third season.

The series centers on the British teens of Moordale High School as they grow up and try to navigate the complicated world of sex and relationships. The first season of the show premiered last year and opened up to critical acclaim, netting a 94% on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes and, according to Netflix, garnering over 40 million member views worldwide within the first four weeks of its release.

The second season arrived a month ago and likewise debuted to positive reviews to the tune of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Sex Education follows Otis Milburn, an inexperienced and awkward high-school student who lives with his sex-therapist mother. In season one, Otis realizes he can use the knowledge on sex to increase his social status, and teams up with bad-girl Maeve to set up an underground sex-therapy clinic for fellow students.

Season 2 followed Otis through his first relationship with Ola, which began at the tail end of last season, and the many hiccups and speedbumps that come along with your very first girlfriend.

Sex Education stars Hugo and Ender’s Game actor Asa Butterfield as Otis, X-Files actress Gillian Anderson as his mother Jean, Emma Mackey as Maeve, Patricia Allison as Ola and Ncuti Gatwa as Eric.

No word yet on when the new season will debut.
