The Percy Jackson author is making deals left and right to bring multiple of his beloved book series to life!
First Rick Riordan made a deal to bring the famous Percy Jackson to Disney+ as a TV series. Now he is sending his Kane Chronicles trilogy to Netflix as a film series!
While the Percy Jackson series follows Greek Mythology, Riordan’s The Kane Chronicles, are inspired by Ancient Egyptian mythology. Netflix will be bringing the stories to life as movies on the streaming platform.
For the Disney+ series, the live action television show will follow the events from the five Percy Jackson & The Olympians books, beginning with The Lightning Thief. The same way the first attempt at a bringing them to life as a film series back in 2010.
“We have been working on this deal since last October, about the same time we started working on [Disney+’s] Percy, and I’m so glad I can now announce it!” Riordan wrote in an announcement on his website. “That’s all I can say for the moment, but stay tuned.”
The Kane Chronicles is a trilogy that begins with The Red Pyramid, which introduces teen siblings Carter and Sadie. As powerful magicians who are descended from Egyptian pharaohs Narmer and Ramses the Great, they are forced to fight for their family when the Egyptian Gods start to awaken and their Egyptologist father goes missing. The other two books in the trilogy are The Throne of Fire and The Serpent’s Shadow, in these spinoff books the characters also interact with the Greek mythology-based world of Percy Jackson.
