Golden Globe Award-winning actress Sandra Oh is set to star and executive produce in new dramedy The Chair for Netflix!
Netflix has announced a new series titled The Chair, which will consist of six episodes that are a half-hour long. It’s described as a “dramedy centered around the Chair of an English department at a major university.”
Sandra Oh (Killing Eve, Grey’s Anatomy) will both star in and executive produce the series, while Jay Duplass (Transparent, Outside In) will co-star.
Amanda Peet (The Commons of Pensacola for the Manhattan Theatre Club, Our Very Own Carlin McCullough for The Geffen Playhouse) will serve as a writer, showrunner, and executive producer for The Chair. David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Bernie Caulfield of Game of Thrones will also serve as executive producers. Annie Julia Wyman also co-wrote the pilot episode of The Chair.
Sandra Oh currently stars in and co-executive produces the hit show Killing Eve, which will soon return for its third season in April. For that role she’s won Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series, a Screen Actor’s Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, a Critic’s Choice Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series.
For her infamous role as Dr. Cristina Yang on Grey’s Anatomy Sandra Oh also won a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. As well as receiving multiple Emmy Award nominations.
Jay Duplass has starred in films like Outside In, Pink Wall, Landline, and Beatriz At Dinner. He also appeared on the award winning Amazon TV series Transparent, for which he was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award for best supporting actor.
He was also a recurring character in the comedy series The Mindy Project, as well as Search Party.
