Season 5 of ‘This is Us’ has moved up its premiere date on NBC

Fans of the Pearson family will be able to join their favorite family two weeks sooner than originally planned.

This is Us will be back on Tuesday, October 27!

Normally most fall television comes back to us in September, however like most other productions, the series found itself having to postpone filming for its upcoming season due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Never fear though, the series writers have been remotely working hard on season 5.

The series is already back in production to be sure to hit its new premiere date. Dan Fogleman (showrunner for This is Us) took to Twitter sharing a behind the scenes image of stars Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore back in their roles as young Jack and Rebecca Pearson.

Fogleman has previously said that current topical world events like the coronavirus pandemic and Black Lives Matter will both be incorporated into the show in a way that doesn’t alter the carefully plotted out plan for the series. The series itself is only planned to have six seasons so incorporating new plots can be a detriment to the overall story if not done correctly.

“What’s happening in the world may shift the details of how things happen, but the big moves continue to happen— and actually potentially heighten and make better the television show then maybe some of our initial plans,” said Fogleman.

This Is Us season 5 debuts via NBC on October 27 with a 2-hour premiere.
