Stephanie Meyer to release ‘Midnight Sun’ this summer

The long wait is over, Twilight author Stephanie Meyer is finally publishing Edward’s novel Midnight Sun!

It’s been 15 years since the first Twilight novel by Stephanie Meyer was published, and now fans are finally going to get the long-anticipated spin-off. The novel, which is told from vampire Edward Cullen’s point of view will be released on August 4!

Meyer announced the publication of the novel via video saying, “I am very excited to finally, finally announce the release of Midnight Sun on August 4. It’s a crazy time right now and I wasn’t sure if this was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so, so long. It didn’t seem fair to make you wait anymore. Sorry about the bad timing. Hopefully, this book can be a distraction from the real world. I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with you.”

Fans have been waiting on Midnight Sun since it leaked in the summer of 2008, which prompted Meyer to release the draft online herself. She’s discontinued and gone back to the project throughout the years, promising fans it would be released eventually.

Meyer commented more on the timing of the book in a press release:

“I hope this book gives my readers a little pleasure to anticipate and, if it arrives, a chance to live in an imaginary world for a while,” she said. “I can’t express how much I appreciate the patience of my readers, and their support over the years it took to finish Midnight Sun.”

The Twilight series was a huge box-office hit as well, and although all the original actors have moved on it will be interesting to see if Midnight Sun gets its own theatrical version.
