This probably comes with little shock given the state of the world, but Taylor Swift has officially canceled all of her 2020 performances including Lover Fest.
The singer has been vocal about her stance on social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic, so it comes as no surprise that Taylor Swift has made the decision to err on the side of caution.
Taylor Swift posted the news on Twitter saying,
“I’m so sad I won’t be able to see you guys in concert this year, but I know this is the right decision. Please, please stay healthy and safe. I’ll see you on stage as soon as I can but right now what’s important is committing to this quarantine, for the sake of all of us.”

She also posted more information about the decision in a statement attached as an image on the tweet. The statement made it clear that the singer was canceling the performances in an effort to put the safety of her fans first.
It also explained that the decision was made with “direction from health officials in an effort to keep fans safe and help prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
Her U.S. and Brazil performances will be rescheduled for a later date sometime in 2021, with tickets automatically transferring over to the new dates. For fans that would rather get refunds, they just have to wait until May 1st to begin the process with Ticketmaster.
It seems likely that many tours will be following in the same fashion, with COVID-19 continuing to have a major effect on the population. Hopefully, the process for refunds will be easy for those that need the money in these trying times.
