Practice twirling the ends of your mustache for another Hercule Poirot whodunit coming this fall!
The first trailer for the upcoming murder mystery, Death on the Nile, was released today and it has ticked up the intrigue a few notches. Adapted from Agatha Christie’s novel of the same name, it follows the detective on a luxury cruise along the Nile, but his peaceful vacation is shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway has been murdered. “She was young, stylish, and beautiful. A girl who had everything . . . until she lost her life. Hercule Poirot recalled an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: “I’d like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.” Yet under the searing heat of the Egyptian sun, nothing is ever quite what it seems.”
The film’s director, Kenneth Branagh, has also reprised the role of Hercule Poirot, previously starring in the adaptation Murder on the Orient Express in 2017 which brought in over $350 million worldwide. Joining Branagh in the next Poirot murder mystery are Tom Bateman, Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders.
Disney, which absorbed the film from 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios), still plans to release Death on the Nile in theaters.
The film was able to wrap up production before the pandemic hit but Branagh has been overseeing the editing himself since the social distancing orders have been in effect.
Death on the Nile is set for release October 23.
