This is the first new footage from the upcoming season of the beloved drama that we have seen with the premiere only two weeks away. But there isn’t much to go on since production of the show has only been active for two weeks. By the time the show premieres they may only have the first two, maybe three, episodes of the season in the can.
What we do get a glimpse of is Rebecca (Mandy Moore) telling teen Kate, “I think it’s time we start a new chapter.” We then see Randall (Sterling K. Brown) celebrating his 40th birthday with wife Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) and the rest of his family. It doesn’t seem like the entire family is celebrating together this year like we have seen in the past seasons. The rest of the clan is at the family cabin celebrating Kate and Kevin’s part of the big birthday tradition. Next, Kevin (Justin Hartley) walks to his car wearing a mask (hello COVID), and then with Madison (Caitlin Thompson), rubbing her pregnant belly. We end on Randall and Kevin seeing each other, in what we assume is the first time since their intense fight at the end of season 4.
Fans have been counting down the days until their favorite family drama returns to their living rooms after that explosive fight at the end of the previous season. This little taste of what’s to come, will tide them over for the next couple weeks.
Tune in to the season 5 premiere of This Is Us on NBC, October 27th at 9 p.m.
