‘The Great British Bake Off’ has restarted production

The Brits are baking again!

The Great British Bake Off has been filming for the past two weeks, which is fantastic news for Bake Off fans who were disappointed when production wasn’t able to start according to plan in April. According to Love Productions, the show’s producer, the wholesome baking competition will likely return this year.

With COVID safety guidelines in mind the cast and crew were quarantined leading up to production starting again to allow close interaction on-set. There have also been reports that the show has moved to a more COVID-friendly location from its usual Welford Park home.

But what is more COVID-friendly than a baking tent that is already in the middle of a wide open grassy field?

Chief Commercial Officer Jane Millichip said, “it’s all happening in deep secret, somewhere in darkest deepest Britain in the shires.”

In January of this year fans were sad to hear the news that host Sandi Toksvig would be leaving the show. She has been replaced by Matt Lucas, who will host the show with Noel Fielding going forward.

The Great British Bake Off will air in the UK on Channel 4 and then on Netflix in the U.S. where it is fondly known as The Great British Baking Show.
