Soon you will be able to listen to the former First Lady along with her friends and family on her new podcast exclusively on Spotify.
About a year ago the Obama’s production company Higher Ground Productions signed a multiyear deal with Spotify for podcasts that will be exclusive to the audio streamer. This is the first project to launch from that deal and will be available to all Spotify users worldwide, whether you are utilizing the free tier or are a premium user.
The Michelle Obama Podcast will debut on Spotify on July 29, 2020, and will feature Michelle Obama’s conversations with friends, family and allies, focusing on “the relationships that shape us, from siblings and close friends to partners, parents and mentors to our relationship with ourselves and our health”.
I’m thrilled to announce a new project: The #MichelleObamaPodcast with @Spotify! It’s been a tough year and I hope this podcast can help us explore what we’re going through and spark new conversations with our loved ones. I can't wait for you all to listen on July 29! pic.twitter.com/89zecZXnrr

In the video, Michelle Obama says the podcast is meant for all people because at some point we all go through many of the same things in our lives. She says, “My hope is that this series can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we’re all trying to answer in our own lives. Perhaps most of all, I hope this podcast will help listeners open up new conversations — and hard conversations — with the people who matter most to them. That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another.”
Initial guests that have been announced include Conan O’Brien, Valerie Jarrett (a former adviser to President Barack Obama), and Marian and Craig Robinson (Michelle’s mother and brother).
The Michelle Obama Podcast will debut on July 29th, and new episodes will be released weekly for nine weeks, exclusively on Spotify.
