Dexter is making his way back to Showtime for a limited series reboot!
Showtime has given the reboot a ten episode series order, with plans for the limited series to debut sometime in the fall of next year.
Originally the hit series aired from 2006 to 2013, focusing on the title character Dexter Morgan— a Miami police department consultant who specialized in blood splatters related to murders. Plot twist: he’s also serial killer.

Fans will be excited to learn that Michael C. Hall is even planning on reprising his character of Dexter for the limited run.
Clyde Phillips, the original showrunner, is returning for the limited run as well. In the statement announcing the revival he spoke, along with Showtime’s Co-President of Entertainment, Gary Levine, about the reboot.
“Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago,” said Levine in a statement announcing the revival.
“We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”
This is very exciting news for a fandom that was notoriously unhappy with the series’ finale. There are high hopes that this reboot will fix some of the problems fans have had.
Showtime’s Dexter will make a triumphant return in Fall 2021.
