ABC is planning its own workplace comedy and actress Tisha Campbell has signed on to star opposite Lucy Liu.
The comedy pilot is in early stages and doesn’t have a name at the moment, but it stars Lucy Liu, who plays a diva boss named Devin. Liu is joined by My Wife and Kids vet Tisha Campbell as Liu’s long time assistant, Annie.
Although Devin initially has zero sympathy for working parents, she quickly changes her priorities when she adopts a baby of her own. Devin’s assistant Annie, has just about had enough of her boss and is about to call it quits, but eventually decides to stay after Devin adopts her baby and begs Annie to stay and share her parenting expertise with her as she is a happy mother of two.
Others who’ve also been cast in the untitled workplace comedy include Hayes MacArthur and Hayley Magnus. Magnus is signed on for the role of a co-worker named Missy who’s described as “quirky and affable,” and as someone who “often says things that are a little off.” Will she be the Dwight Schrute of the sitcom?
Behind the scenes, Speechless director Christine Gernon will serve as director on the series and it is being executive produced and written by Shana Goldberg-Meehan who is known for creating Better With You.
Since the sitcom is still working on a title you can guess that currently there is no date for when it will premiere on ABC.
