Due to COVID-19 putting a stop to production in Hollywood, Warner Bros. has made adjustments to their theatrical release dates for upcoming titles.

A lot of eyes have been on Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson as the title character, and was filming in London up until production shut down. It’s currently unknown when production will be able to begin again. Because production shut down, the film’s release date has been moved from June 25, 2021 to October 1, 2021 according to Deadline. Shifting The Batman from a summer release to a fall release.

The movie version of The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, was originally slated to be released on July 1, 2022. Warner Bros. has rescheduled the release of The Flash to a month earlier than before on June 3, 2022. Likewise, another superhero film Shazam 2! has been moved from April 1, 2022 to November 4, 2022.

Baz Luhrmann’s currently untitled Elvis Presley movie starring Tom Hanks has been rescheduled from October 1, 2021 to a month later on November 5, 2021. The Many Saints of Newark, The Sopranos prequel, was originally scheduled for September 25, 2020 has been rescheduled for March 12, 2021. King Richard, the drama starring Will Smith, has been pushed back from November 25, 2020 to November 19, 2021.

Warner Bros also set a date for Reminiscence, the sci-fi movie starring Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson, has been scheduled for April 16, 2021. Shaka King’s untitled Fred Hampton movie was scheduled to release on August 21 but is currently undated.

The release dates for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, July 17, and Wonder Woman 1984, August 14, remain the same.

With COVID-19 still continuing to spread rapidly and many industries unsure of when business will be back to normal, these release dates could continue to change. Movies that haven’t yet finished production face the biggest challenge.

Presumably, once social distancing practices are able to lighten up there will be more firm ideas on release dates. Until then, we wait and see.

To summarize Warner Bros new release dates:
Tenet – July 17, 2020
Wonder Woman 1984 – August 14, 2020
